Through a Glass Darkly 2009 (fluorescent edition of 25) signed and dated by the artist.

4 colour screen print, hand pulled from 4 separate screens.

Work pondering how we perceive ourselves in the universe, how we play around with ideas of our existence without even being conscious of it. The concave screen of the vintage video game always lent itself to the idea of mysteries in space. Like a techno crystal ball.

The title comes from 1 Corinthians 13,12 in the King James Bible

"For now we see through a glass, darkly; but then face to face: now I know in part; but then shall I know even as also I am known"

It is the idea that we are not seeing the whole picture, we can only partially comprehend what the universe is through a dim reflection that is our take on reality. It is like the Platonic idea of our apprehension of reality being as but shadows on the wall of a cave.

The line is preceded by

"When I was a child, I spake as a child, I understood as a child, I thought as a child: but when I became a man I put away childish things."

1 Corinthians 13,11
